Promoting alternative health solutions through research and fundraising support since 2005
Enlightened Health Corporation is a newly formed non-profit company dedicated to the education of proven alternative and natural healthcare methods to those at-risk populations that have limited or no exposure to these therapies, or who lack the financial means to access them. Enlightened Health Corporation provides various services such as massage, chiropractic, nutritional, and occupational therapies; psychological services; and health education, depending on the need. EHC works with alternative health care professionals to introduce new and emerging technologies that have been proven nationally and internationally to improve quality of life.
Our pilot program involves a collaborative effort between two countries. Enlightened Health is collaborating with Dr. Reuben Govender of South Africa, who has been working in the field of HIV/AIDS since 1992. His paper, “HIV and Tuberculosis: Implications and Recommendations,” was awarded a gold medal at the International Congress on AIDS in Calcutta in December, 1994. His focus on HIV and nutrition began in 2001, with an emphasis on product development, research, and forming partnerships with people already working in this much-neglected field. Presently, he is involved in researching the Future Life Nutrition Pack from an observational standpoint. He is responsible for managing the largest HIV/AIDS support group and associated support groups with free medical consultations in Durban. He is also the principal educator on nutrition and AIDS for the largest teacher union in South Africa, and was a keynote speaker on nutrition at the invitation of the Ministry of Education. He has an MD in holistic medicine, with postgraduate degrees in philosophy and psychology. He is, in his own words, “passionate about caring and wanting to significantly impact the mortality and morbidity caused by this pandemic.” Enlightened Health shares his vision.
The pilot program that we are implementing centers on issues of nutrition for people living with HIV/AIDS.
In May of 2003, The World Health Organization Technical Advisory Group’s report on nutrient requirements for people living with HIV/AIDS stated:
- Nutritional interventions should be an integral part of all HIV treatment programs.
- Countries should prepare for ARV access through training on how to manage ARV’S nutritional dimension.
- Improved attention to diet and nutrition may enhance ARV acceptability, adherence and effectiveness. Particular consideration must be given to gaps in knowledge relating to ARV in populations where malnutrition is endemic.
